The Study Center of Acquaviva Picena, situated inside the fortificated village, at the palace named after the famous doctor of Acquaviva Celso Ulpiani, is a conventional headquarter of the Department of Archaeology of University of Bologna and of the Center of Studies for the Archaeology of the Adriatic; the Aquaviva headquarter is particularly distinguished, in bases of its geographical position, as a research and documentation center for the archaeology of the middle Adriatic area, as well as for the didactic laboratory classes.

The office of the Archaeological Department of Acquaviva Picena manages:

- the specialised library for the Adriatic archaeology, provided with scanning service and bibliographic data web consultation (ArAcCo),

- the didactic and research laboratories:
Archaeological structures analysis and relieving laboratory,
Informatics laboratory (ArAcEl),

- a conference and didactics hall,

- the center for the documentation of the southern Piceno and central Croatia archaeology, where is in progress the realization of a special database (Dalmatica).

The Study Center of Acquaviva is an operative headquarter decentralised (node of network ArAc) of the Research Center for the Multimedia Technologies applied in Archaeology (Te.M.P.L.A.) which manages the Archaeological Research Network (NADIR). It hosts as well, the decentralised Center of Studies for the Archaeology of the Adriatic in which have adhered all the Archaeological Supervision Sections and all the Universities of the Adriatic coast, from Trieste to Lecce. The center, and organizer of various scientific and promotional activities, operates with the aim to support and coordinate the research and the studies concerning the antiquity of all the Adriatic basin, evaluating the cultural relations which constitute a referring point for all the archaeological researches regarding the Adriatic.

 
Groma 1:2007

Groma 1: 2007 The main topics of the first number of the journal are:
- the synthesis of the international workshops “L’Adriatico, un ponte d’acqua”, and “New Researches in Suothern Albania”, held in Acquaviva Picena; during the workshops were presented significant research projects in Marche region (central Italy), Croatia and in southern Albania (Phoinike, Butrint);
- contributions about the on-field experiences of the Archaeological Survey Laboratory (Department of Archaeology, University of Bologna) held in Acquaviva Picena but also in other archaeological contexts where the same methods were successfully tested.
